People have the right to expect the food they eat to be safe and suitable for consumption. Foodborne illness and foodborne injury are at best unpleasant; at worst, they can be fatal. But there are also other consequences.Outbreaks of foodborne illness can damage trade and tourism, and lead to loss of earnings, unemployment and litigation. Food spoilage is wasteful, costly and can adversely affect trade and consumer confidence.Good hygiene can be ensured through good routines and high quality, well-designed cleaning tools.Our hygiene brushes are suited for autoclaving up to +120°C/+248°F, do not absorb water, retain bristle stiffness and bend recovery.Articles are available with heat tolerances from-30ºC to +134°C (even some up till +250°C). Filament retention is important to Unimop and the combination of precision drilled high density brush blocks and insertion of stainless steel retaining clips achieves this objective whilst allowing for the penetration of anti-bacterial agents to reach deep into the bristle clumps.A selection of articles are available with bristles set in flexible resin compound. Enhanced bristle retention is achieved in addition to solid proven bristle anchorage.Manufactured from our own formulation involving additives that conform to food contact regulations, this addition allows material that may become accidentally detached from an article in use to be detected by standard in-line metal detection equipment.

Ambassadeurs ISSA Benelux willen imago sector verbeteren

ISSA heeft Jean Paul Christy en Mike van Bekkum benoemd tot ambassadeurs van de regio Benelux.Beide ambassadeurs zijn vanzelfsprekend geen onbekenden in de schoonmaaksector. Christy is managing director van Kärcher, terwijl Van Bekkum (foto) eigenaar en managing director is van Unimop.Ontwikkeling
ISSA vertelt over hun benoeming: “Door hun actieve betrokkenheid in de Benelux-werkgroepen en hun jarenlange lidmaatschap hebben ze veel bijgedragen aan de ontwikkeling van ISSA in deze regio.”Als ambassadeurs van ISSA Benelux willen Christy en Van Bekkum zich nog meer inzetten voor de schoonmaakbranche, zoals het verbeteren van het imago en het verhogen van professionaliteit in deze sector.

ISSA Member Profile: Unimop

Green cleaning has been one of the most significant trends in our industry and it shows no sign of losing its momentum. The wider global movement for environmentally-friendly products and services has filtered down to the cleaning industry, and our customers have come to expect a level of environmental responsibility from their vendors.

But green cleaning is not simply a clever marketing ploy. Many, if not most, of the companies supporting the movement are fully committed to protecting the environment for the simple reason that it is the right thing to do. Unimop Owner and Managing Director Mike van Bekkum  is eager to stress this point. “Customers are increasingly demanding more ‘green’ options, so of course it makes good business sense to provide them,” he said. “However, for us at Unimop, this is more than decision based on profit. We are genuinely committed to the protection of the planet. In an industry like ours which uses a lot of chemicals, we have a responsibility to ensure we do all we can to protect the natural environment.”

Unimop, a Netherlands-based provider of innovative and quality cleaning products and systems, works with European suppliers who are equally committed to sustainability. Most of Unimop’s products and packaging materials are 100 percent recyclable. In addition, the company is selective about the transporters it uses. “We choose our transporters based on those who give the highest priority to the environment,” van Bekkum said. “For example, we want to ensure that our trucks are always full so that our carbon footprint is reduced. Also, wherever possible, we prefer to use intermodal transport.”

 

Unimop has been a member of ISSA since 1985, and the company is pleased that ISSA shares its commitment to the environment. “ISSA is equally as keen to promote green cleaning, and it has readily-available information on how members can improve in this area on its Web site, in its newsletters, and during the seminars at its trade shows,” added van Bekkum.

In addition to its environmental attributes, Unimop seeks to address its commitment to social responsibility. “One of the major issues facing our industry at the moment is the topic of safety amongst cleaners. For example, I have heard much about ensuring the safety of window cleaners, which can obviously be a dangerous job. It is the responsibility of cleaning companies, and in fact the wider industry, to ensure that the safety of cleaners is of paramount importance,” explained van Bekkum. “ISSA has been very active in propagating the importance of safety,” he continued. “The association has launched many initiatives to ensure that standards are high―and are met.”

One recent ISSA initiative that van Bekkum himself has become involved with is the BeNeLux Working Group. The Working Group is dedicated to ensuring that ISSA members from Belgium, The Netherlands, and Luxemburg (BeNeLux) not only are able to benefit from the global resources of ISSA, but also that their specific local requirements are met.

“Though ISSA’s BeNeLux Working Group, we have been able to bring several key industry players from the region together in order to discuss regional issues and set up proposals for how best to deal with them,” said van Bekkum. “With the combined co-operation of all of us in the BeNeLux Working Group, I am confident that we can ensure that issues like environmental responsibility and safety―as well as any future challenges―can be dealt with proactively and effectively.”

Beneluxpaviljoen krijgt enthousiast ontvangst in

Warschau

ISSA Europe heeft dit jaar voor het eerst een Benelux paviljoen neergezet op de ISSA/Interclean in Warschau. Dat vanuit het enthousiasme van een aantal leden om gezamenlijk onze regio te promoten in Polen en omringende landen. Beneluxpaviljoen krijgt enthousiast ontvangst in Warschau
Zes Nederlandse bedrijven zijn dit jaar vertegenwoordigd in dit collectief: Cemex Trescon, Flash, MGS Greenspeed, Unimop, Vendor en All Care. Buiten dit paviljoen waren ook Wecovi, Daka Services en SYR Europe op de beurs te vinden. MGS Greenspeed en Unimop zijn voor de derde keer aanwezig in Polen en merken dat de herkenbaarheid van hun merk onder bezoekers groeit. Mike van Bekkum van Unimop: “Opvallend is dat de bezoekers goed voorbereid naar de stand komen. We hebben veel kwalitatieve leads en distributeurs uit omringende landen gesproken.” Damian Armitage van MGS Greenspeed: “Greenspeed groeit als merk in deze regio en dat merken we aan de gerichte vragen over onze producten. Ik sta bijna de hele dag te demonstreren. De bezoekers willen zien wat het product doet en hoe het werkt.” Vendor was voor het eerst op de beurs. “We zijn zeer te spreken over de kwaliteit de bezoekers, ook zijn we verrast over de verhouding internationale bezoekers, dit was toch zeker wel 40 procent.  Vooral ook uit Russischtalige landen, zoals de Oekraïne en Litouwen,” zegt Aleksander Gassowski. “Wel zullen we volgende keer in de washroom willen staan, omdat we met onze producten daar meer aansluiting vinden.”

5 exposanten: van reinigingsmiddelen tot hygiëneborstels

Tijdens de ISSA/Interclean laat Service Management meerdere Nederlandse exposanten of exposanten met een Nederlandse link aan het woord. Wat presenteren zij op de grootste schoonmaakbeurs ter wereld? Deze keer Orphisch tot en met Unimop.

 

Unimop
Unimop levert naar eigen zeggen innovatieve, kwalitatief hoogwaardige schoonmaakproducten en -systemen. “Wij bieden meerwaarde door onze klant centraal te zetten en continuïteit te waarborgen. Door nauwe contacten te onderhouden met de eindgebruikers kunnen wij goed op hun wensen inspelen.” Unimop levert onder andere professionele hygiëneborstels tot acht kleuren. Het bedrijf: “Wij maken het onze klanten makkelijker door producten voor hen te produceren waarmee zij efficiënter te werk kunnen gaan. Onze producten voldoen aan veiligheid voor zowel gebruik als het eindresultaat. Denk hierbij vooral aan onze speciale metaaldetectielijn.” Deze is ontworpen voor verhoogde risico processen in de voedingsmiddelenindustrie. Het magnetische veld is geproduceerd door metaalstof te gebruiken in de mal (matrijs) van de producten. Unimop zegt ook de maatschappelijke verantwoordelijkheid serieus te nemen. “Zo werken wij met milieuplannen en is onze restproductie volledig recyclebaar net als onze eindproducten.”
